6 `ICE-4`_ investigates chemistry, dynamics and microphysics in the stratosphere
7 and tropopause region and their role in the climate system.
9 To this end, aircraft and balloon-based experiments are carried out to
10 elucidate processes on predominantly local and regional scales.
11 The evaluation and use of satellite data extends these studies to global and
12 climatological scales. The evaluation of the measurement data is closely
13 interlinked with model calculations.
